North Shore League Teams

In order to provide service and to attain these goals, the club has committed itself to the following structure:

All teams at Bass River will have tryouts prior to each season. These tryouts will be available to all players who wish to participate in them. Our teams will be selected from these tryouts and placed in order of their tryout finish. Tryouts are mandatory for all players wishing to gain a position on any of our teams. There will be no exceptions to this rule. You do not have to be a member of BRTC to tryout; however, you must join immediately upon making the team.

Once tryouts have been completed and teams are placed in order initially as a result of those scores, movement in playing order for teams will be based on performance in match play above all other criteria. Teams will receive two points for each win, and 0 points for each loss. Teams will hold their positions for a time period not shorter than 2 weeks in length. These criteria will be maintained throughout the season.

Bass River ordinarily sets up its teams in playing order for each match from strongest to weakest. However, there may evolve situations due to absences, injuries, etc. that require coaches, captains, and teams (all members) to reflect on and decide how to field a team order for any given week. Hopefully this will be the exception rather than the rule. Should such a situation occur, the coach and team should make whatever choice in playing order that is in the team’s best interest. On such unique occasions, the coach may freeze the existing point totals.

Bass River requires its teams to practice as together with the assistance of coaches provided from our club staff. We feel that this enhances our staff / member camaraderie and also enhances progress for our players.

The club recognizes that patterns and traditions form for various reasons, and at times, appropriate change can be for the better. Knowing this, we are always open to your suggestions regarding our teams. Please write them down and express them clearly. We appreciate them.

All Bass Rivers teams are made up of club members only. No exceptions are made. Team captains will coordinate the selection and purchase of team uniforms.

Tryout dates for the teams we offer are listed in our August newsletter. Please sign up with a partner on one of our North Shore Tennis League Tryout sign-up sheets. If you do not have a partner, then please put your name on the "LOOKING FOR A PARTNER" list on the tennis bulletin board at the club and follow up with the coach of that team.
